Untangle Networks [home]This is the final post on setting up and configuring Untangle on your network.

For a recap on our previous posts, see here:  -PART1- and -PART2-

Now that I have had Untangle running on my network for a while, you are able to see some things that might make more sense.

I have migrated it from “bridged” mode to “router” so it is now serving up DHCP and DNS, it still has a router between it and the network however i just turned DHCP off on that router so it get’s it from Untangle.

I also have it secured to only allow internal admin and I have OpenVPN setup so I VPN into the box in order to manage it, just a bit safer from brute force attacks. continue reading…

If you’re having boot problems on your Windows PC, it’s often helpful to repair the MBR (Master Boot Record) to restore the Windows 7 boot loader—and you can do it easily from the Windows installation disc.

This is generally most useful if you’ve broken something and there’s a boot loader error, or if you have made the mistake of installing an older version of Windows on the same PC that already has Windows 7 which wipes out the boot loader.

Note: If your PC starts booting into Windows but fails, you should probably try using Safe Mode instead

But Bonjour has been fairly reliable even as both operating systems have evolved.

In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to set up your OS X machine so that its shared printers are available to Windows 7 machines. After that, we’ll show you how to print a document from a Windows 7 machine using a Macintosh shared printer. continue reading…

Ever been at a friends house and wished you could easily get into your home computer? Or maybe you are at the office and need to print out a document that is on your home computer at your work printer. Or maybe you just want to know how it works. Well there are many ways to control your computer but today we are going to show you how to use the built-in Remote Desktop (RDC) feature of Windows to our advantage.

Remote Desktop, included with the Professional and above versions of Windows, enables you to connect to your computer across the Internet from virtually any computer, Pocket PC, or Smartphone. Once connected, Remote Desktop gives you mouse and keyboard control over your computer while showing you everything that’s happening on the screen. With Remote Desktop, you can leave your computer at the office without losing access to your files, applications, and e-mail.

    OK, lets get started.

First off, lets enable Remote Desktop on your computer. Right click “My Computer” and click properties.

Now let’s check the box to “Allow users to connect remotely to this computer”. Click on Select Remote Users” to make sure your name is included, if not add it if you want to connect using your name.
