OK so you “forgot” your password? Right haven’t heard that before. But never the less it’s a question that is asked over and over. So whether you legitimately forgot your password, bought a pc that was on display and noone knows the password, or you just have an older brother that won’t let you on his computer, this is a step by step tutorial on how to do it all.

Windows users, let’s start at Option1 (Mac and Linux users let’s go to Option3)

    Option1: Display the password

Using Ophcrack to display the passwords for all the accounts on the computer.

Windows 7 Users currently it looks like this won’t work for you. But there are separate downloads for Vista and XP users.

As a continuation from our -PART1- we bring you PART2 of setting up your Untangle server.

This tutorial will walk you through installing different apps, configuring your server, running reports, Open VPN clients, and much more.Untangle Networks [home]

So enough beating around the bush let,s jump right into it. We left off last time just after installing the OS and starting to configure our server as a transparent bridge. If you don’t remember it you can always go here to get refreshed, I know it was a long time ago so most of you have forgotten by now.

Ok so first off if you ever screw up and need to start the setup wizard all over (can only be done locally, not from another web session) just point your browser at http://localhost/setup/ and that will start the wizard to re-configure your server keep in mind it will not uninstall your apps you have downloaded but as for the settings on each app I have not tested thoroughly enough to be sure, you might need to re-configure them.

First off lets go to Config –>Networking –> Start Wizard (if you don’t see start wizard click “advanced” (top right) and then you will see it.

Roughly one month prior to the release of Windows 7, Microsoft debuted its consumer antivirus and antispyware solution, Microsoft Security Essentials. This solution does not include a firewall which is understandable since Windows 7 does include one. Microsoft has a sketchy past with previous firewall incarnations that either left systems open for attack or did not provide the customization options that existed in commercial solutions. In this review I will take a closer look at the capabilities of Microsoft Security Essentials and the Windows 7 firewall. I will try to determine if the software giant has managed to stroll into the desktop security space as a solid contender.

    Download Microsoft Security Essentials here.

    First Impressions

Microsoft Security Essentials is a very small download at just under 7 MB. The installation is rather uneventful, a simple Next, Next, Next, Finish straight forward approach. Thankfully a restart is not required for Microsoft Security Essentials to begin protecting your system. Immediately after installation you are presented with an option to do an initial scan and update of virus and spyware definitions. On my system the scan took less than 15 minutes to complete.
