Cleaning a pc infected with Win-Antivir 2010

Open task manager and kill task named AV.exe

Open regedit and select “My Computer” at top.

CTRL+F and search for av.exe

Delete (or edit path to fake entry) for all found entries.

Close regedit

Open task manager and kill task named AV.exe

it was launched by opening regedit.

Open up Control Panel and at top click Tools and click Folder Options.

Select tab “File Types”

**av.exe has associated itself with all .exe programs so we are removing that association**

Click NEW

Type in exe

Click advanced

Wait for a few seconds and it will auto fill “Associated file type” with “Application”

Click OK

Confirm that under details for EXE extension it is set to open with %1

Click close

Run a full virus scan via whatever your antivirus flavor is.
