    OK so you “forgot” your password? Right haven’t heard that before. But never the less it’s a question that is asked over and over. So whether you legitimately forgot your password, bought a pc that was on display and noone knows the password, or you just have an older brother that won’t let you on his computer, this is a step by step tutorial on how to do it all.

    Windows users, let’s start at Option1 (Mac and Linux users let’s go to Option3)

    Option1: Display the password

    Using Ophcrack to display the passwords for all the accounts on the computer.

    Windows 7 Users currently it looks like this won’t work for you. But there are separate downloads for Vista and XP users.

    First off we download the CD image for the Operating System we are using. In this case i’ll be using XP.

    Facebook users beware: A new rogue Facebook app is spamming newsfeeds and tricking users into handing over profile access. According to the security firm Sophos, more than 190,000 people have already clicked on a link sent by this rogue app that promises to show “shocking video”” of a teacher physically assaulting a young man.

    The bit.ly link redirects users to a Facebook Page that then prompts users to allow an application called “Teacher nearly kills 13 year old boy. SHOCKING!” access their profile information and permission to post on their wall.

    As of right now, it doesn’t appear that the application does anything more than post the spam link to the newsfeed in hopes of tricking more users; however, the next message the app posts to your wall could be far more dangerous. continue reading…

    Facebook just announced a tool that notifies you by e-mail or SMS text message when someone logs into your Facebook profile from an unknown computer.

    The idea is to help you recognize when a hacker has broken into your account so you can respond quickly by either changing your password (if that’s still possible) or contacting Facebook.

    Once you enable the notifications, you’ll be required to identify each computer you use to log in when you first use it and choose whether or not it’s a private or public machine. You’ll be able to see a history of registrations from machines potentially used by hackers, and of course those hackers will be forced to type something into the identification field to get in, so you should be able to tell whether it was just a login that you forgot or not.

    Here’s a quick guide to turning this feature on and using it.


    Step 1: Go to Account Settings and Enable Notifications


    When you’re logged into Facebook, you’ll see the word “Account” in the top right corner of the browser window. Click there to get a drop-down menu of options, then click on “Account Settings,” as pictured below.
